Starting out as a TV series on CBS in 1959, Rob Sterling’s The Twilight Zone has become one of the most well-known American sci-fi/horror shows in media history, lasting for five seasons and spawning a revival series from 1985-2002 as well as a film starring John Lithgow in 1983. Now it looks like Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way is looking to bring it back to the big screen, and Joseph Kosinski, who directed 2010’s TRON: Legacy and (more recently) the Tom Cruise-starred Oblivion, is set to direct.
Nothing is being released about the plot yet and those who are familiar with the original series know that the story could be just about anything within the realm of science fiction, horror, and the macabre- as long as it has a twist ending. Several writers have tried to re-work the script including Anthony Peckham (Sherlock Holmes), and it is currently being redeveloped for Kosinksi.
Although the project was announced about 6 years ago with rumors of Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) slated to helm, it seems like it is just now getting off the ground. Still, there is no news yet of a possible start date.
