Jon M. Chu’s ‘In the Heights’ Debuts New Trailers

Warner Bros. has released two new trailers for the upcoming movie musical In the Heights. The highly-anticipated musical is directed by Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu from screenplay by Quiara Alegría Hudes. The film is based off the 2007 stage musical of the same name by Quiara Alegría Hudes and Lin-Manuel Miranda, who, according to Collider, will also appear in small role. In the Heights stars Anthony Ramos, Leslie Grace, Corey Hawkins, Melissa Barrera, and Olga Merediz. The two new trailers premiered just ahead of the 2020 Grammys, making their debut as the perfect way to start off the awards show.

The film tells the story of Usnavi (Ramos), a bodega owner living in the New York City neighborhood of Washington Height, spending his days wishing for a better life.

The trailers are exciting as they introduce the audience to all the characters. Besides Usnavi, the trailer also gives a sneak peek of Benny (Hawkins), who dreams of attending business school, and Vanessa (Barrera), who appears to have a romance with Usnavi.

In the Heights was originally set for a theatrical debut back in 2020, but now the film will premiere in both theaters and on HBO Max on June 18th.

Melissa Cusano: I love to escape reality with reading, writing, movies, and music! If I'm not working I love to go to concerts (pre-covid), play video games, and hang out with my dog Ozzi.
