According to The Hollywood Reporter, award-winning actor Jon Hamm (AMC’s Mad Men) is set to co-star with Zachary Quinto (Star Trek franchise) and Jenny Slate (Obvious Child) in the new drama Aardvark.
Written and directed by Brian Shoaf in his feature film directorial debut, the story centers on Josh (Quinto), a mentally ill man with a history of hallucinations. He is not sure if the person he has fallen in love with is real or a hallucination. He seeks psychotherapy; his new therapist meanwhile falls in love with her patient’s famous brother.
Quinto is also producing via his Before the Door Pictures, along with Susan Leber and Neal Dodson. The project is being financed by Green Point Media.
Hamm finally won an Emmy this year for his role as Don Draper in Mad Men after being nominated eight years in a row. Now that the show has concluded, Hamm has jumped full swing into feature films. He has completed filming Greg Mottola’s comedy Keeping Up With the Joneses with Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Zach Galifianakis (Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)), and Isla Fisher (The Great Gatsby). He landed the lead in Brad Anderson’s political thriller High Wire Act opposite Oscar-nominated actress Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl). Other upcoming projects include Michael Almereyda’s drama Marjorie Prime with Academy Awards winner Geena Davis (In World…), and Edgar Wright’s action-comedy Baby Driver with Ansel Elgort (Divergent franchise).
Aardvark is currently filming in New York.
