Johnny Depp In Talks To Return As Jack Sparrow

Johnny Depp (Edward Scissorhands) is in the talks to return as Jack Sparrow for the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. In an interview with Deadline, Jerry Bruckheimer (Top Gun: Maverick) was asked about the return of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and he replied, “We’re talking to Johnny, we’re working on a screenplay and hopefully we can get this done.” Recently, Depp was at Comic-Con San Diego dressed as Ebenezer Scrooge to promote the film of the same name as the character. The film is set to release on Thanksgiving of this year and be the first major motion picture appearance of Depp since 2023, when he played King Louis XV in Jeanne du Barry.

The last time Depp played Jack Sparrow was in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tells No Tales back in 2017. In the movie he faced off Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men) as Captain Salazar, a pirate hunter who has risen back from the dead. The movie featured a lot of returning actors from the franchise, including a small cameo from Orlando Bloom (Lord of The Rings) and Keira Knightley (Pride & Prejudice) who were in the previous films. There is no other information about the film and who will be returning.
