Hayden Panettiere’s Co-Stars Pay Tribute After Her Untimely Death

Hayden Panettiere, best known for her roles in Heroes and Scream, died suddenly on Sunday at 36, and tributes and warm messages from her co-stars and other Hollywood figures have flooded social media. Emma Thomas, who shared the screen with Panettiere in Scream 4, posted on Instagram with the caption, “rest in peace my sweet friend. you are so loved and you will be forever missed❤️.” David Arquette and Melissa Barrera, who also starred in Scream with her, simply said, “I love you Hayden” and “Rest in peace sweet Hayden.”

Viola Davis, who worked with her on Architect, said, “What an amazing talent you were….so gifted. Julius [Tennon] and I loved working with you….an old, wise soul with such a deep heart. I wish the world had more time with you because I had a burning curiosity about who you were becoming. I saw this beautiful Phoenix rising from the ashes.” Connie Britton, who acted alongside Panettiere in Nashville, said, “I have no words for this sad song. Just heartbreak. I love you girl. Sleep easy now. 💔”

Rosie O’Donnell alos recounted her memories of the actress, saying “I’m crushed. I knew the wild little blonde. Was she nine? Ten? I was eighteen. She ran through the Screen Gem studio hallways at 222 E44th St. laughing and playing games in between blocking and camera rehearsals. Long, unruly curls trailing behind her. She knew her lines and everyone else’s. Her intelligence was astonishing. She understood scenes and nuance and human struggle like no child I’d ever seen on camera. And she’d sit with you for a great conversation, then giggle and go play. We’d connect on and off over the years, like the cousin in the family reunion who got famous and life moved her away — but I always felt such joy seeing her when we were lucky enough to cross paths.”

Hayden Panettiere died unexpectedly in South Carolina on Sunday at 36. Few details have been released about her passing.
