CinemaCon is underway and the first big news from the event has already hit. Lionsgate has revealed the first promotional image for John Wick: Chapter 4, the fourth installment of their iconic revenge franchise starring Keanu Reeves as the titular assassin.
Convention goers hope that this is a hint that a special preview of the long-awaited installment will show at the convention. Plot details have been kept secret but new faces will emerge along with familiar friends and foes. Laurence Fishburne will return as Bowery King, who, after he loses his empire, is dead set on revenge against The High Table. Ian McShane and Lance Reddick will return as The Continental’s manager and concierge. Chad Stahelski will return to direct.
Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgard, and Natalia Tena will join the cast as Caine, Marquis, and Katia. Their role in the plot are unknown. Some more new faces are Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, Marko Zaror, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Shamier Anderson. The film has face pandemic-related delays, getting its release pushed back from May 2022 to March 24, 2023.
Fans will not be going empty handed too long in all things John Wick. A television series based on the films’ hotel chain, The Continental, will premiere sometime this year. It will focus on the manager Winston’s past. Colin Woodell will play a young Winston. Another spinoff, Ballerina, in in development with Ana de Armas being eyed as the star. Though Halle Berry will not return as Sofia for the fourth installment, she has teased possible spinoff of her own.
John Wick: Chapter 4 will hit theaters March 24, 2023.
