John Goodman to Join ‘Kong: Skull Island’

John Goodman (Trumbo, The Monuments Men) is the latest actor to join the already impressive cast of Legendary Pictures’ Kong: Skull Island.

Penned by successful scribes John Gatins (Flight), Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler), Max Borenstein (Godzilla), and Derek Connolly (Jurassic World), the feature will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer). Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers) was the first to join the project which also co-stars Brie Larson (Room), Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton), Samuel L. Jackson (The Hateful Eight) and John C. Reilly (The Lobster).

The story is a King Kong action-adventure prequel which follows a crew exploring Skull Island. Legendary is a veteran of other monster films, including Godzilla, Pacific Rim, and Jurassic World. Goodman will play Randa, a government official who leads an expedition.

Legendary Pictures’ Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing along with Mary Parent. Alex Garcia and Eric McLeod are executive-producing. The project will begin production later this year or early next year on location in Hawaii and is planned for release by Warner Bros. in March 2017.
