John Cusack In Talks To Join Cast of ‘My Only Sunshine’

John Cusack is looking to make a return to the silver screen, as the actor is currently in negotiations to star in a dark comedy/heist thriller alongside J.K. Simmons called My Only Sunshine. Mark Palansky is set to direct the film according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film’s plot will see Cusack play one half of a highly dysfunctional couple attempting to rob a bank as part of a bizarre and unconventional marriage counseling. The couple tries to make peace and fix the ruptures of their relationship through a hostage negotiations with a local police officer, played by Simmons, who previously was investigating a related murder from the past.

My Only Sunshine was penned by the duo of J.T. Petty and K. Reed Petty, and will be produced by Matt Smith and Lawrence Mattis from Circle of Confusion. Michael Mendelsohn, of Patriot Pictures, will also fund the project through his company Union Patriot Capital Management. J.T. Petty, Natalie Perrotta and Jim Steele will also serve as executive producers.
