Legendary director of some of the most popular horror and action films of the late 70s and 80s, John Carpenter, hasn’t made feature-length film in over 10 years, causing some to believe that he may never direct another film. But just recently, in an interview with The Daily Beast, Carpenter hinted that he might make a return to the director’s chair.
When asked if he would direct another feature film, Carpenter said, “I’m working on a couple of things. But I’m not doing anything for a while, until the world comes back and rights itself. It’s insane now. It’s nuts! I’m not going to go out there and get sick.”
So, if Carpenter is going to return to directing, it likely won’t be until after pandemic worries die down. His last film, The Ward, released in 2010, and was considered one of his weakest efforts.
During his break from film, Carpenter focused on composing music. He released two standalone albums, Lost Themes and Lost Themes II. He was also attached to the recent Halloween reboots but as an executive producer and composer of the score. Critics and fans alike praised Carpenter’s score as one of the best parts of the entire film.
