J-Lo’s ‘Hustlers’ First Weekend Box Office Approaching $32M

Hustlers could be exceeding earlier expectations for box office draw. According to Variety, the female-led flick made $13.1 million from 3,250 theaters on Friday domestically. Last month, we reported that Hustlers could potentially hit $25 million by the end of this weekend. With it’s momentum, the film can easily exceed that number.

Hustlers follows a group of wronged strippers who have joined forces trying to get revenge from their Wall Street clients. The film is based on a New York Magazine article written by Jessica Pressler entitled ‘The Hustlers at Scores.’ The film stars Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Julia Stiles, Cardi B, and Lizzo.

Will Ferrell and Jennifer Lopez served as producers while Lorene Scafaria wrote and directed the film. STX Entertainment is handling distribution.

Hustlers is up against the second weekend of It: Chapter Two, starring Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, and Bill Hader, which will stay number one at the box office. The Goldfinch however, starring Ansel Elgort, Aneurin Barnard, Nicole Kidman, and Sarah Paulson, is not doing well, only predicted to take in $2.58 million after some bad reviews have the film at a Rotten 24% on Rotten Tomatoes.
