Deadline has exclusively learned that Artists Road, a comedy film joint venture created in October by Spyglass Media Group, Propagate Content, Artists First, and Off-Road Productions, has been given the OK to do its first project in Chris Nelson’s comedy film Reunion.
Jillian Bell (Rough Night), Lil Rel Howery (Get Out), and Billy Magnussen (Into the Woods) are set to join the comedy. Deadline confirmed the casting news.
Nelson is best known for directing Netflix rom-com The Perfect Date, which stars Noah Centineo, Laura Marano, and Camila Mendes.
The script is written by Jake Emanuel and Willie Block, the writing duo behind the TV series The Edge of Sleep.
Reunion is described as a darkly comic approach to the classic whodunit. The comedy revolves around a murder that occurs during a snowstorm at a high school reunion party, trapping visitors in a remote estate as they struggle to put together clues.
Reunion is not the first film that Bell and Howery work on together; they previously worked 2019 Amazon comedy Brittney Runs a Marathon.
Bell is set to star in comedy I’m Totally Fine and comedy El Tonto. Howery will be seen next in the upcoming comedy Free Guy starring Ryan Reynolds. Magnussen will be seen in the upcoming Many Saints of Newark.
This autumn, principal photography will commence in Los Angeles.
