Jessica Chastain Wins Her First Oscar for ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye’

Tonight at the Academy Awards, Jessica Chastain accepted her first win for The Eyes of Tammy Faye. She was nominated for an Academy Award three times, once for Supporting Actress in The Help and Best Actress in Zero Dark Thirty.

In her speech, she spoke of Tammy Faye’s radical love and compassion for the world, which reminded her of the tumultuous, violent times many areas of the world are experiencing today. She spoke eloquently, humbly, and accepted her award with the hope of a better future full of love, which she mentioned was brought up a lot during the ceremony tonight.
