Jessica Chastain is now set to star in the film adaptation of Losing Clementine, dramedy that will be directed by Lucia Puenzo. The script, written by Better Call Saul writer Ann Cherkis, will be an adaptation of a 2012 psychological fiction novel of the same name by Ashley Ream.
The story will feature Chastain as world famous artist Clementine Pritchard, who plans her own suicide with about a month to take care of her final business and check off bucket list items. Before the thirty-one days are up and while completing her last chores she discovers family secrets, including those having to do with a tragedy that impacted both her mother and sister.
The film will be produced by Sentient’s Renee Tab and partner Christopher Tuffin with Chastain and Kelly Carmichael, who are with Freckle Films. Executive producers include Michael and Jeeny Miller, Jake Martin and Maryam Lieberman, and Cherkis. Domestic distribution rights will be represented by CAA Media Finance.
Chastian’s recent credits include the financially successful thrillers It and It: Chapter Two which made $700.2 million and $456.9 million, respectively. Puenzo saw her second film, The Fish Child, debut at the Berlin Film Festival and was nominated for nine Argentine Academy Awards.
