Jessica Alba has joined the cast of Netflix’s 13 Going on 30 reboot, according to Deadline. Alba joins a cast consisting of Emily Bader, Logan Lerman, and Adeline Rudolph. Not much is known about this reboot’s plot, except that it will function as both a semi-reboot and a sequel to the original 2004 film, which starred Jennifer Garner. That original 2004 film, released by Columbia Pictures, follows a young girl living in the 1980s who, after making a wish on her 13th birthday, wakes up in the body of her 30-year-old self, played by Garner, and must navigate her adult life. Garner is acting as executive producer on this new reboot.
Brett Haley, the director of the successful Netflix rom-com People We Meet On Vacation, is directing this new 13 Going on 30 film. The script is written by Hannah Marks, with revisions by Flora Greeson. Producers on the film include Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum through RK Films and Scott Hemming through Revolution Studios. Gina Matthews and Ted Gidlow are also producing. In addition to Garner, Donna Roth and Susan Arnold are serving as executive producers.
Production on the 13 Going on 30 reboot began last month in L.A. A release date for the project isn’t currently known.
