According to Variety, Jenny Slate (Obvious Child) will co-star with Zachary Quinto (Hitman: Agent 47) in the new drama Aardvark.
The indie drama will be written and directed by Brian Shoaf (On Meditation) and produced by Quinto, Susan Leber, and Neal Dodson. Plot details have not been released. The project is to begin shooting in New York in December.
Slate did one season of Saturday Night Live (2009-2010), and has a recurring role as Jess on TV’s FX series, Married. It was Slate’s acclaimed performance in the 2013 indie comedy Obvious Child that put her on the map- for that performance, the actress earned an Independent Spirit Award nomination. She will be seen next in Brain on Fire, directed by Gerard Barrett (Glassland) and starring Chloë Grace Moretz (The Equalizer), based on Susannah Cahalan’s book about her harrowing battle with severe encephalitis.
The actress-writer-comedienne is currently filming Marc Webb’s Gifted for Fox Searchlight, which stars Chris Evans (Captain America: Civil War) as a man trying to raise his brilliant young orphaned niece but having to fight his own mother for custody. She is also voicing the character of Gidget in Universal’s animation feature The Secret Life of Pets, scheduled to bow on July 8, 2016.
