The universe of Paramount Pictures’ A Quiet Place is getting little bit Bigger. The studio has recruited Mud director Jeff Nichols to write and direct film based on an original idea by John Krasinski.
Plot details are under wraps, but it’s expected that the film will steer away from the main story seen in the original Quiet Place and instead tell an original story set in the same post-apocalyptic and monster-infested world.
Krasinski wrote and directed the original film, as well as the announced sequel, A Quiet Place Part II, which was originally supposed to come out earlier this year on March 20, but was pushed back to April 23, 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nichols is known for directing dramas like Take Shelter and Midnight Special. The 5 films he’s directed have received high praise from critics, all of them earning a certified fresh critic score on Rotten tomatoes.
A Quiet Place released in 2018 to critical acclaim. The tense horror-thriller made a big impact on audiences, grossing over $50M during its opening weekend, making it the biggest opening weekend ever for an original horror movie. It starred Krasinski alongside his real-life wife, Emily Blunt, as their family navigates life in a world filled with monsters that have hypersensitive hearing.
