Much to the internet’s surprise, Jeff Goldblum has come out in support of one of Hollywood’s most infamous filmmakers, Woody Allen. In an interview with British media website The i, Goldblum echoed a statement that he had made previously about Allen years ago. Allen has had sexual assault accusations put upon him by his daughter Dylan Farrow and much of Hollywood, with the rise of the #MeToo movement, has refused to work with him or support him.
In the interview, Goldblum was asked if he would work with Allen again to which Goldblum replied, “Even though I feel like this cultural shift [the #MeToo movement] is very, very positive and long overdue and I support it wholeheartedly and take it very seriously, I also admire his body of work. So I would consider working with him again, until I learned something more (negative).” Goldblum has come under some heat for his comments on the internet. He has been doing press for his new Disney+ show The World According to Jeff Goldblum, airing November 12, and his second jazz album.
Within the past year Allen saw his most recent film, A Rainy Day in New York, dropped by distributor Amazon Studios which started a messy lawsuit by Allen who says Amazon didn’t fulfill their agreement. As of today, the film has not been distributed in the United States.
