Jedi Legend Liam Neeson Would Only Return To ‘Star Wars’ In Film

When Stars Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace was released in 1999, we were first graced with getting to see Liam Neeson on screen as Qui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi Knight who trained Obi-Wan Kenobi and decided to give Anakin Skywalker a chance to escape Tatooine. In the 23 years since the character’s debut, he has become a fan favorite. Though he did make some appearances in animated pictures, he has not acted in any other live-action Star Wars film.

Since Disney+ announced its highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show following the success of The Mandalorian, it’s been announced Ewan McGregor will be returning as Kenobi and Hayden Christensen will reprise his role of Darth Vader. Fans began to wonder if certain other Star Wars veterans would be appearing as well, but when Neeson was asked if he would be coming back to the Star Wars universe, he promptly answered no.

The actor promises he has nothing but good memories of his days filming, Neeson says he’s “a bit of a snob when it comes to TV”. Neeson did say he would be open to playing the character in live-action again, given that it was a film and not a show.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will be premiering on Disney+ on May 25, just don’t expect to see Liam Neeson.
