Black Label Media has finalized an ensemble cast for its upcoming crime thriller Copperhead, adding Jason Momoa, Tenoch Huerta, Adria Arjona, and Kiefer Sutherland alongside lead actor Miles Teller.
Directed by John Swab (King Ivory, Ida Red), the West Texas-set feature was scripted by Chad Feehan (Ray Donovan) and novelist J. Todd Scott. The plot centers on an undercover narcotics operation that violently detonates into chaos, compelling an experienced detective to partner with a novice federal agent to uncover an internal conspiracy rooted within their elite task force. Specific roles for Momoa, Huerta, Arjona, and Sutherland remain undisclosed.
Principal photography is scheduled to commence in September 2026. Black Label Media is financing the production and produces alongside Teller’s Lime Tree Productions and Swab’s Milk Boy banner. Black Bear will launch international sales on the project at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, with CAA Media Finance and WME Independent jointly handling domestic distribution rights.
Teller, coming off Antoine Fuqua’s Michael, will next appear in James Gray’s Paper Tiger. Momoa recently starred alongside Dave Bautista in Amazon MGM Studios’ action-comedy The Wrecking Crew, with upcoming slates including Street Fighter, Dune: Part Three, A Minecraft Movie: Squared, and Universal’s Fast Forever. Huerta, recognized for portraying Namor in Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is slated to reprise the role in Avengers: Doomsday and star in the thriller Eleven Days.
Arjona’s recent credits include Disney+’s Andor and the upcoming A24 action-thriller Onslaught, with future projects including Amazon MGM’s The Thomas Crown Affair, the series Criminal, and DC Studios’ Man of Tomorrow. Sutherland, an Emmy winner for 24, recently appeared in Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2 and stars alongside Al Pacino in the Luc Besson-penned drama Father Joe, screening at the Venice International Film Festival.
