Jared Leto to Return as Joker in ‘The Snyder Cut’

Reshoots for Zack Snyder’s Justice League are well underway. But in a shocking turn of events, it has been confirmed that Jared Leto will return as the Joker in the upcoming HBOMax miniseries, The Snyder Cut. This is huge news as it was believed he walked away from the role after Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie was green-lit. However, there were rumors circulating last week that Warner Bros. was considering bringing back the Harley Quinn and Joker movie that was once in development.

Now what sort of involvement the Joker will play in the Snyder cut remains to be seen but there were concepts that were revealed by both David Ayer and Zack Snyder. According to Ayer, Enchantress was supposed to be working with Steppenwolf and a mother box in the original iteration of Suicide Squad. The end result would have been Joker making a deal with Steppenwolf to become a war lord in the Knightmare timeline, after Darkseid reins supreme. We would have seen this eventually in one of the Justice League sequels. This would have made Suicide Squad and Justice League more closely linked and feel like part of the same universe, rather than just a one off with no connection.

Now whether or not this will come to fruition is beyond anyone. Only Zack Snyder knows how this will play out. The rest of us will have to wait until Zack Snyder’s Justice League releases on HBOMax sometime in 2021.
