Jared Leto (Suicide Squad) and Chris Evans (Captain America: Civil War) are reportedly in talks to join the upcoming adaptation of the novel The Girl on the Train, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will star Emily Blunt (Sicario) as Rachel, recently divorced alcoholic who rides a train everyday while fantasizing about the life of a seemingly perfect couple when she passes their house. One night she comes out of a blackout drinking session covered in blood, leading her to believe she was involved in a crime. Evans is in talks to play Rachel’s ex-husband who moves in with his mistress (Rebecca Ferguson, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation). Leto would play the husband of the neighbor (Haley Bennett, The Equalizer), the both of whom are the objects of Rachel’s fixation.
The only issue in making Leto and Evans official additions to the film is scheduling the pair. Leto is playing the Joker in the DC Cinematic Universe and will likely have to commit to the future stand-alone Batman film. Evans is committed to his own Captain America comic book series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2. Evans is also starring in the upcoming Marc Webb ((500) Days of Summer) drama Gifted.
The Girl on the Train is currently set to release in 2016.
