It seems like every day a new huge star is announced to join the cast of the big budget sequel to Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, and today another huge addition is connected. According to Hollywood Reporter, Janelle Monáe is set to join Daniel Craig in the next installment, which Netflix recently landed the rights to.
Alongside Monáe, Dave Bautista and Edward Norton were also recently added to the cast. Johnson is back to write and direct the film and will produce with his partner Ram Bergman with Craig reprising the role of super sleuth Benoit Blanc.
Craig will be returning to solve another mystery revolving around a large cast of suspects. It is currently unknown who Monáe will be playing in the film. Plot details are still unknown at this time, but it has been confirmed from Deadline that production is expected to begin in June 2022 in Greece.
This will be Monáe’s return from a busy 2020, where she appeared in the Lionsgate horror film Antebellum and the Gloria Estefan pic The Glorias for Amazon. With several Grammy noms under her belt, Monáe is continuing a solid transition to balancing successful film and music careers and continues to pick up memorable roles.
