Diane Keaton and Jane Fonda are among some of the most famous actresses in Hollywood, and the two will be starring in new film by the title of Book Club. The film has been given an official release date, a May 18th unveiling, by Paramount, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Book Club focuses on the story of four longtime friends who host a monthly book club. Each of their four lives are shifted on their axis when the club decides to read Fifty Shades of Grey, a surprisingly popular book for older women. What the friends will change or how they have changed have yet to be revealed, but it will be interesting to see where the script takes the story.
Keaton and Fonda are joined by Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen as the book club members. They will act alongside solid supporting cast including Richard Dreyfuss, Alicia Silverstone, Andy Garcia, Don Johnson, Tommy Dewey, Wallace Shawn, and Katie Aselton. The film will feature the directorial debut of Bill Holderman, who will be working with a script that he and Erin Simms composed together. With the mid-May release date for the film, it will be competing against heavily anticipated Deadpool 2 and Show Dogs. Although it looks to have fairly difficult competition, it should do just fine considering its subject matter and its possible light-hearted tone in comparison to the more gritty, vulgar Deadpool 2.
