It’s a Race for Survival in the New Trailer for ‘Greenland’ Starring Gerard Butler

Disasters are nothing new in the film genre. Earth shattering explosions, cataclysmic floods and the possible extinction of the human race are common themes in movies that showcase an end of the world scenario. Gerard Butler stars in the new movie Greenland, a film where he and his family are tasked with seeking shelter in the midst of a comet hurtling towards the Earth.

The film was scheduled to release on July 31 but was delayed twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic and will now arrive in theaters on August 14. Ric Roman Waugh helms the projects (which he directed Butler in Angel Has Fallen) and is produced by Butler himself. The supporting cast will include Morena Baccarin (Deadpool 2), Scott Glenn (Into the Grizzly Maze), King Bach (Coffee and Kareem) and David Denman (Brightburn).

Greenland is being distributed by STX Entertainment while Thunder Road Films is the production company. The film was written by Chris Sparling (Down a Dark Hall) and from the looks of the trailer, will be quite a ride once theaters open back up. Disaster films are back and what a better way to get out of quarantine than by seeing a movie where the world is in imminent danger.

Rick Rice: A kid at heart who has loved watching movies from a very young age. Credit must be given to Siskel and Ebert whose film reviews educated me on the world of film inspired me to become a writer myself. I love to read books that range from various topics, copious amounts of research is something that excites me and of course sitting in a movie theater is a highlight of my life. When I'm not watching movies or reading I enjoy listening to foreign music and working hard on finishing my short stories. Currently working on my degree in English with a plan to enroll into Film School with the dream of becoming a screenwriter and director.
