The much anticipated fifth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise is finally due to begin filming in the UK next week, confirmed by Deadline. The film will be handed down to Logan director James Mangold from Steven Spielberg, although Spielberg will still serve as a producer. Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel are also producing. John Williams, who has worked on every score for over forty years, will return as composer.
Harrison Ford will star alongside Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round), Phoebe Waller Bridge (Fleabag), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Shaunette Renée Wilson (The Resident) and Thomas Kretschmann (Avengers: Age Of Ultron). Plot details are still under wraps, but there have been many rumors, including a 1960s space race theme, but local reports in the UK also point to a shoot at Bamburgh castle.
The last Indiana Jones film was in 2008, when Ford starred in Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, in which the archaeologist became involved in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind mysterious artefacts known as the Crystal Skulls. Despite mixed reviews, the film took close to $800M globally.
Indiana Jones has a current release date of July 29th, 2022.
