Paolo Pilladi’s comedy Last Call starring two-time Oscar nominee Bruce Dern (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood), Taryn Manning (Orange Is the New Black), and Jeremy Piven (Entourage) has been acquired by IFC Films according to Deadline. Pilladi directed, produced, and co-wrote the film with Greg Lingo.
Last Call follows Mick (Piven), a local success story, and a real estate developer. When he goes home to his offbeat blue-collar, Irish neighborhood in the shadows of Philadelphia for a funeral, he is forced to stay to ensure that his parents’ ailing family business is back on track. Through all this happening, he grows closer to his childhood crush (Manning), who happens to also be back in town, while experiencing the constant mockery of his old hometown crew. As his stay at home prolongs, Mick begins to reconnect with the neighborhood he grew up in, he soon finds himself at quite a fork in the road when he is forced to either decide to raze or resurrect the family bar.
Oscar nominee Cathy Moriarty (Raging Bull), Jamie Kennedy (Scream franchise), Jack McGee (Miracle of 34th Street), Zach McGowan (Black Sails), and Cheri Oteri (Grown Ups 2) star in the film as well.
“IFC is the ideal home for this film,” Pilladi said. “We’re thrilled to share this comedic peek into an eclectic neighborhood undergoing painful gentrification, which was brought alive by our legendary ensemble.”
IFC Films is looking at a theatrical release this year.
