Idris Elba’s Directorial Debut ‘Yardie’ Releases First Teaser

Idris Elba has made a name for himself as a strong actor, his main roles being Heimdall from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and as Luther in the show of the same name. He also has shown his producing chops across a multitude of different TV shows. He will be putting on yet another hat by directing his first film, titled Yardie. The film has officially released its first teaser. Check it out below.

Yardie follows the story of a person named D, who at a young age watched his brother be killed by a random gun-toter. Now lacking a family, D is brought under the wing of King Fox, a music producer and Don of Kingston, Jamaica. After D grows and becomes an adult, Fox sends him to London, where D meets his childhood sweetheart Yvonne and his daughter. D then joins a gang and as a result, meets the murderer of his brother. This leads to D’s eventual retribution, which will leave a large and bloody road behind him.

Yardie features a solid cast that includes Aml Ameen, Everaldo Creary, Sheldon Shepherd, Stephen Graham, and Shantol Jackson. The script is written by Brock Norman Brock and Victor Headley, the writer of the book that the film is adapted from. The film is set to release sometime this year or early next year.
