Hugh Bonneville Confirms ‘Downton Abbey’ Sequel

Hugh Bonneville, who played Robert Crawley in the popular drama series Downton Abbey from 2010 to 2015, has confirmed that there will be sequel to the 2019 film. Downton Abbey follows the lives of the Crawley family and their servants in the family’s Edwardian country house. The series was created by author Julian Fellowes and quickly became a massive hit. After a successful six seasons, a film was released in 2019, and Bonneville is excited to return to the big screen yet again.

According to Screenrant, Bonneville has said that once the COVID-19 pandemic is brought under control, a film is in the future: “If everybody who is offered a vaccine takes a vaccine, we can make a movie. We will make a movie. It’s the usual thing, the planets are circling, they’re beginning to get into alignment, but there’s this thing called coronavirus knocking around. Until that is under control in a sensible way, we’re not going to be able to get all those ducks in a row. There certainly is the intention to do it, we’d love to do it, we’re desperate to do it.”

Even though Downton Abbey has an extremely extensive plot line and dedicated fans, the movie drew in new viewers, and hopefully this is the case for the upcoming sequel.

Melissa Cusano: I love to escape reality with reading, writing, movies, and music! If I'm not working I love to go to concerts (pre-covid), play video games, and hang out with my dog Ozzi.
