‘Hocus Pocus 2’ Announces New and Old Faces for the Sequel

This all hallows eve, Disney has announced, on their Disney+ twitter account, the cast for their highly anticipated sequel entitled Hocus Pocus 2. The film will follow the events from the original 1993 cult classic Hocus Pocus. After nearly three decades, the Sanderson sisters will return

The video shows a fun new logo for the film as well as the black flame candle. It also confirms the returns of all three Sanderson sisters with Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy all set to reprise their respective roles. The following tweet by Disney announced the new “spellbinding cast” for the sequel.

The cast is filled with youthful newcomers including Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo, Taylor Henderson, and Froy Gutierrez. All of which are young and more or less up and coming and have a mix of acting and some musical talent. In addition to the newcomers, they also announced veteran comedic actors such as Tony Hale and Sam Richardson as well as Hannah Waddingham, most known for her roles in Game of Thrones and Ted Lasso.

The description for the new sequel, via IMDb, is that “Three young women accidentally bring back the Sanderson Sisters to modern day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc on the world.”

The three young actors at the beginning of the announcement will most likely play those characters that summon the Sanderson sisters, while the rest of the cast will surely fill out the wacky world.

Rejoining the trio of witches is Doug Jones, it is unknown if he will be reprising his role as Billy Butcherson, but it is safe to assume he most likely will. It would feel strange to bring Jones back without him playing one of his most iconic roles. Jones has been a hugely important creature actor in the last few decades and his impressive movement in all of his projects always adds to the material. In the original Hocus Pocus, the actor’s mouth is literally sewn for a large portion of the movie, but his movement makes his character all the more endearing. It is a joy to see him confirmed to return for the sequel.

Hocus Pocus 2 is roughly a year away with a Fall 2022 release date.
