Ryan Coogler’s supernatural period thriller Sinners is now available for digital rental and purchase following its very successful theatrical release. Sinners, with a budget of $90 million, grossed nearly four times that amount, earning $350.8 million worldwide—$267.8 million domestically and $83 million internationally.
The film stars Michael B. Jordan, playing dual roles. Alongside him is Hailee Steinfeld. The film can now be rented for $19.99 or purchased for $24.99 on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango At Home. A physical release—including 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD formats—is set to release on July 8, 2025. These physical formats will include bonus content such as deleted scenes and a behind-the-scenes documentary titled Thicker Than Blood: Becoming the Smokestack Twins, which offers a look into the physical and mental preparation Michael B. Jordan undertook to portray both twins.
Sinners is set in the 1930s, in a neighborhood in Mississippi. The film centers around twin brothers Smoke and Stack Moore, both played by Jordan, who return to their hometown hoping to leave behind their troubled past by opening a juke joint. However, their plan goes awry with the arrival of Remmick, an Irish vampire played by Jack O’Connell. This sets off a series of events that intertwine horror with racial and cultural themes. The film blends supernatural fantasy with commentary on the exploitation of African Americans and systemic injustice during the Jim Crow-era South.
The movie received critical acclaim, with The New York Times describing it as “a big-screen exultation — a passionate, effusive praise song about life and love, including the love of movies.” The film has a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It was released in theaters on April 18, 2025, followed by a digital release on May 28. Streaming on Max (formerly HBO Max) is expected between July and September, in line with Warner Bros.’ typical window.
Music plays a major role in the film. The original soundtrack, composed by two-time Academy Award winner Ludwig Göransson—known for Oppenheimer and Black Panther—features blues-inspired music. Sinners has a runtime of 2 hours and 14 minutes and is rated R for violence, language, and thematic elements.
