Harrison Ford Reveals ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Will Begin Filming In Two Months

It’s been nearly 40 years since audiences first met Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford’s now-iconic archaeology professor/treasure hunter, in 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark. The franchise has since spawned three sequels, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008), as well as boatload of merchandise. Now, news has come out about the fifth untitled Indiana Jones film, which has been in the works since 2016, and luckily fans will not have to wait much longer.

Ford recently appeared on CBS news to discuss his career, in which he revealed that the next Indiana Jones movie, which will see Steven Spielberg return as director, will begin filming in just two months. The veteran actor went on to detail his experience of paying the same character for four decades, joking that his biggest worry was “trying not to look silly,” noting the character’s traditional garb of “tight pants and high boots.”

The film has experienced a string of delays since being greenlit, with its initial release date originally set for summer 2020. However, Disney retracted this statment in July 2018, now setting the film up for release on July 9, 2021. CEO Robert Iger has additionally revealed that they are planning for more films to follow the release of Indiana Jones 5, referring to the film as a “requel.”

The untitled Indiana Jones 5 hits theaters July 9, 2021.
