As stated by Deadline, Guy Pearce (Iron Man 3, The Dog Stars) provided an update for the production of The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’s sequel after Terence Stamp’s (Superman, The Haunted Mansion) death. Stamp was 87 when he passed away on August 17, 2025.
Pearce informed Good Morning America, “Well, the sequel, which is going to be—what are we now, ’26? We’ll probably shoot it ’27, it’ll come out ’28.”
The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert was directed and written by Stephan Elliot (A Few Best Men, Eye of the Beholder). The film centers around three drag queens who venture across Australia in a bus named Priscilla. The film stars Stamp, Pearce and Hugo Weaving (The Matrix, Captain America: The First Avenger).
Elliot stated in 2024 after revealing the sequel was in the works, “I’m not repeating myself, we’ll start the new film in Australia, but by God, we’re going on one helluva journey. The original cast is on board, I’ve got a script that everybody likes, we’re still working out deals. … It’s happening.”
Elliot “decided to pre-shoot all the Bernadette scenes” as Stamp “wasn’t getting any younger, and that’s a fact he loved to shove down our throats almost every day.”
Elliot explained, “When the AI wars broke out, Terence was indignant that he didn’t want a digital clone of himself playing Bernadette. He wanted the chance to put the character down himself. And I will quote him in this case. He said: ‘Just in case I don’t make the start line.’”
