Gotham Independent Film Award Award Nominations

And we are off! The 2015 awards season is officially underway with announcement for the 25th annual Gotham Independent Film Awards this morning. Part of the Independent Film Project, the Gothams are voted on by distinguished juries and will presented in New York City on November 30, 2015. This year, Sundance breakout The Diary of Teenage Girl led the field with four nods. Also having a strong showing this morning were festival favorites Carol and Spotlight (both of which will arrive in theaters in November). Significantly, six women made up the Best Actress, perhaps shaping strong showing for that category. Last year, eventual Best Picture Oscar champ Birdman won the top prize.
