‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ Trailer Released

The first trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is finally released as the creature feature duo faces a ferocious enemy. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this new addition to the Warner Bros./Legendary Entertainment’s MonsterVerse directly follows events from the 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong, which featured the two monsters fighting for dominance.

As seen in the trailer below, The New Empire will unearth more about the mysteries of the Hollow Earth, and it will also feature a new Titan enemy that will require Godzilla and Kong to work together to take it down.

Returning to The New Empire will be director Adam Wingard and cast members Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, and Kaylee Hottle. New cast members include Brit Dan Stevens (who previously worked with Wingard on 2014’s The Guest), Fala Chen, Alex Ferns, and Rachel House.

Terry Rossio, Simon Barrett, and Jeremy Slater have also provided the script.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the MonsterVerse franchise’s fifth feature. The franchise also includes Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021). Aside from the franchise’s film entries, there have also been two television entries: the anime series on Netflix, Skull Island (2023), and Apple TV’s live-action series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023).

Godzilla and Kong’s venture through The New Empire is set to hit theaters on April 12, 2024.
