‘Glass Onion’ Director Rian Johnson Says He’s “Pissed Off” to Have ‘Knives Out’ in the Title

Glass Onion was released recently on Netflix with only one original cast member from Knives Out returning. Daniel Craig returns to take the role of Detective Benoit Blanc.

Recently Glass Onion director Rian Johnson said that he wishes he could’ve trimmed the last words from the title; those are Knives Out.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote an interview made to Johnson with The Atlantic regarding the title. Johnson compares his 2018 film Knives Out with the current Netflix film. Johnson clarified how he strived to make both films complete different stories that can exist on their own

Before releasing the film, Netflix decided only to give the film a one-week release in theaters, where Netflix CEO Reed Hastings mentioned that this decision left plenty of money.

The Hollywood Reporter writes Johnson’s opinion regarding the film’s theatrical release. He says, “I’d love it to be [in theaters] longer; I’d love it to be in more theaters,” he said. “But also, I appreciate that Netflix has done this, because this was a huge effort on their part, and the theater chains, to reach across the aisle and make this happen. I’m hoping it does really well so we can demonstrate that they can complement each other.”

Glass Onion is now streaming on Netflix! Check out our review as well!
