Lately WWE Studios has been releasing a lot of movies, including this year’s Fighting With My Family and the upcoming Buddy Games, in order to promote their wrestling stars and reach new audiences. Now, according to Deadline, WWE Studios is teaming up with Paramount Animation to create feature film called Rumble.
Rumble will be an animated comedy that will release in the summer of 2020. The story of Rumble is set in a world populated by monsters. In this world the monsters participate in their own version of wrestling, with the monster wrestlers getting treated like celebrity athletes. The plot will follow a monster named Winnie who wants to uphold her father’s legacy by coaching an underdog wrestler and molding her protege into a superstar.
Rumble will be directed by Hamish Grieve, who previously worked on films like Shrek 2 and Rise of the Guardians. The voice cast of Rumble will include wrestling stars Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch, as well as actors like Tony Danza, Geraldine Viswanathan, Stephen A. Smith, Terry Crews, Jimmy Tatro, Will Arnett, Ben Schwartz, and Michael Buffer. The movie is being produced by Mark Bakshi and Brad Booker, with Susan Levison and Richard Lowell serving as the executive producers.
