George Romero’s Never Before Seen ‘The Amusement Park’ Uncovered

In light of a sequel to ever famous Night of The Living Dead in the works, it has been revealed that there has been project that has been under wraps for 45 years. Reported by Slash Film, it’s a George Romero directed picture that resurfaced through the author Daniel Kraus, who previously produced Guillermo Del Toro’s Shape of Water. Upon watching the film Kraus enthusiastically tweeted out “OK. This movie is a REVELATION.”

Apparently the movie was shot and completely finished but was too horrifying to release to the public. Kraus quotes scholar Tony Williams, author of The Cinema of George A. Romero: Knight of the Living Dead, who upon seeing it three decades ago stated the film was “far too powerful for American society…It must remain under lock & key never seeing the light of day.” Kraus also tweeted “With the exception of Night of The Living Dead-maybe-The Amusement Park is Romero’s most overtly horrifying film. Hugely upsetting in form & function.” Not only is the announcement of a new Romero picture exciting enough but the idea of it being his more horrifying movie yet puts it on a entirely different level.

Although many are invigorated of being able to view one of Romero’s most controversial and thought provoking films, there is no way to see it, yet. After displaying his excitement Kraus declared that he is going to do everything in his power to release the movie to the public. For fans looking to help, Kraus says that donating to the George A. Romero Foundation will aid in the the restoration of the film. It is not a guarantee that the film will be released but with the many, many fans backing the project it’s hard not to get excited.

Keidan Chavez: I am an undergraduate attending Whittier College majoring in screen writing and journalism. I love to watch movies, play Red Dead Redemption 2 and read whenever I get the chance. I will watch anything related to Wright, Tarantino, The Coen Brothers or Nolan. I will also play anything made by Naughty Dog or Rockstar Games. I love being able to experience great stories, especially when I am able to share that experience with others. I also love learning about movies and sharing that knowledge to those that are just as passionate.
