In a recent interview with Variety, George Clooney discussed a third sequel to Ocean’s Eleven, fittingly titled Ocean’s Fourteen, which is currently in early development. In the interview, he revealed that, in addition to himself, Brad Pitt, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts will all be returning for the upcoming sequel. In that same interview, Clooney also shared some plot details about the film, describing it as centering on an aged Danny Ocean and crew as they pull off a heist in their later lives. Here’s the full quote of Clooney discussing the plot:
“There was something about the idea that we’re too old to do what we used to do, but we’re still smart enough to know how to get away with something, that just appeals to me. They’ve lost a step, and they need to find a way to work around their limitations.”
Ocean’s Fourteen is currently in early development, with production set to begin sometime in October. David Leitch, director of Deadpool 2, and other action films like Atomic Blonde, Bullet Train, and The Fall Guy, is set to take over the director’s chair from Steven Soderbergh, director of the previous Ocean’s movies. In addition to this new installment, a prequel film, centering around younger versions of Danny and Debbie Ocean, is also currently in development at Warner Bros, with Bradley Cooper and Margot Robbie reportedly playing the leads and Lee Issac Chung, director of the Oscar-winning indie family drama Minari and 2024’s Twisters, directing.
