Gabriel Luna, Diego Boneta, Natalia Reyes Tapped for James Cameron’s ‘Terminator’ Reboot

The sixth installment in the Terminator franchise finally has its stars. It looks like Gabriel Luna will have his turn at the Terminator, playing the rebooted version of the character. Luna is most known for his role in ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which takes place in the MCU and has brought in plenty of heroes and Inhumans.

Diego Bonita and Natalia Reyes will also perform, and they’ll act alongside Mackenzie Davis. Good news for fans of the original movies: it looks like original cast members Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton have been reported to make appearances as well. Deadline was first to report the news.

The new story follows a screenplay from David Goyer about a young woman named Dani from a working-class neighborhood in Mexico City, who finds herself wrapped in a battle between man and machine. Miller and Cameron wanted to find a relatively unknown performer for the role of Dani, similar to the way they put Hamilton on the map by casting the young actress. They ended up choosing Reyes who has starred the Spanish-speaking series Cumbia Ninja.

This latest addition to the terminator franchise marks the first time Cameron has been involved since writing and directing Terminator and Terminator 2 in 1984 and 1991, respectively. His attachment as producer shouldn’t come as a surprise but definitely can bode well for a well-respected franchise that has lessened in popularity over the years. The movie is already set to release on November 22nd, 2019.
