‘Fun Mom Dinner’ Gets Picked Up by Netflix at Sundance

On Thursday night it was revealed that Netflix has picked up the R-rated comedy Fun Mom Dinner starring Toni Collette, Molly Shannon, Bridget Everett (Trainwreck), Katie Aselton (TV’s The League), Adam Scott, Rob Huebel (I Love You, Man), and Adam Levine. The film follows four moms, whose only connection is their preschool kids, as they go out for a “fun mom dinner”.

The film is set to have it’s premiere in a week, on Friday January 27, 2017 at Sundance.

Director Alethea Jones is an Australian director/writer who resides in Los Angeles. This will be her first feature film. She has previously directed television episodes for Amazon, including Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, as well as the pilot episode of A History of Radness.

Although the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah didn’t actually begin until last night, there have already been quite a few acquisitions preceding the start of the festival. The gay love story Call Me by Your Name was bought by Sony Pictures Classics, the Casey Affleck-starrer A Ghost Story was bought by A24, and the documentary Casting JonBenet was bought by Netflix.
