‘Frozen 2’ To Be Released on Disney Plus Three Months Early

With the coronvirus pandemic causing so many delays in the film industry, many are curious to see if Disney will provide more content for their streaming service. Two of their more anticipated films- Mulan and New Mutants- were amongst those delayed during this period, so the possibility of these films getting a Disney Plus release as opposed to theatrical release is a possibility. However, while no word has been set about these films being on the platform, Disney did adjust a digital release of one of their big hits from 2019, stating that Frozen 2 will now be on Disney+ on March 15th 2020 in the U.S. Other territories like Canada and Australia will be getting the film on Disney+ early as well, but just a few days later on March 17th.

Frozen 2 was recently released on Digital and Blu-Ray a month prior, and was initially set to release on Disney+ later this year. However due to recent circumstances with COVID-19, Disney decided to release it three months ahead of schedule. New CEO Bob Chapek stated that Frozen 2’s themes of perseverance and importance of family were incredibly relevant during this time.

With more families staying home amid the outbreak, and with Frozen 2 already being one of Disney’s highest grossing films, it made sense for Disney to release it earlier for the public. Disney stated that the film coming to Disney+ will be a nice surprise for families, as they’ll be able to have some “joy and fun during this challenging period.”

Frozen 2 will be released on Disney Plus March 15th 2020.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
