Gérald Depardieu, Seven Deaths by Perscription (1975), 102 Dalmatians (2000), and Life of Pi (2012) are facing sexually inappropriate behavior allegations from 13 different women who have spoken to Médiapart as part of a months-long investigation into the actor. The Médiapart report was published on Wednesday and included several detailed alleged cases of groping, obscene comments, and inappropriate acts by Depardieu on movie and TV sets between 2004 and 2022. Some of the sets were from Big House (2015), Domas (2010), and Netflix’s Marseille (2016). (Via The Hollywood Reporter)
The reports say these acts were allegedly done to young actresses, makeup artists, and technical staff. In addition to the alleged obscene comments, Depardieu allegedly made “persistent groaning noises.” According to the magazine, the crewmembers allegedly ignored, tolerated or even laughed at actions.
Depardieu declined to comment on the allegations, although his Paris-based law firm Cabinet Temime has denied the criminal acts, commenting that some of the accounts in the Médiapart report appear to be based on “very subjective assessments and/or moral judgments.”
All of the producers contacted by Médiapart claimed they had not seen or were unaware of the alleged behavior, except for one. Fabien Onteniente said his casting director warned him on the set of Disco (2008) Depardieu was allegedly “getting heavy with the girls.” When similar allegations were made during the production of Turf (2013), Onteniente confronted the actor and said, “Don’t start that again, it’s over! Behave yourself.”
During the #MeToo movement in 2018, Depardieu’s name was brought up by actor Charlotte Arnold accusing the actor of allegedly raping and allegedly sexually assaulting her twice in his mansion in Paris. Official rape charges against him was made. Depardieu has tried to overturn the charges, but it was overruled.
