The Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot was critically eviscerated but nonetheless minted a pretty penny at the box office. So a sequel is on the way and details are still emerging on what to look forward to before Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows hit theaters on June 3rd. A major details was revealed during Friday’s turtle powered panel at WonderCon in that Saturday Night Live alum Fred Armisen will voice the villainous Kraang.
Armisen joins an eclectic ensemble in the latest film that includes newcomers Stephen Amell (Arrow), whose on board to portray Casey Jones, Brian Tee (Jurassic World) as Shredder and Tyler Perry (Gone Girl) as evil scientist Brock Stockman. Gary Anthony Williams (The Internship) and WWE wrestler Stephen Farrelly will also play Bebop and Rocksteady, respectively. The cast is rounded out by returning players Megan Fox (This is 40) and Will Arnett (The LEGO Batman Movie). For a touch of class, three-time Oscar nominated actress Laura Linney (You Can Count on Me) joins the franchise. Dave Green, who made his feature directorial debut with the 2014 family science fiction film Earth to Echo, helmed the sequel taking over the reins from franchise starter Jonathan Liebersman (Wrath of the Titans).
While Armisen is mostly known for his sketch comedy work on SNL as well as Portlandia, he has earned his voiceover bonafides on such series as Archer, Bob’s Burger and The Awesomes. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows finds the turtles – Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Donatello – yet again on a dangerous mission trying to save the city of New York.
