Fox Shuffles Release Dates

Fox has made several announcements regarding the 2015 releases for Fantastic Four, Secret Service, Susan Cooper, and Assassin’s Creed.

Fantastic Four has been pushed back from March 2015 to June 19, 2015. While several names have been rumored as potential cast members, so far the Michael B. Jordan as The Human Torch is the only confirmed choice. Josh Trank (Chronicle) will direct and Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class) is part of the writing team. The move will put the Fantastic Four reboot in direct competition with Disney’s Inside Out, which also opens that week.

Another comic adaptation from Fox, Secret Servicehas taken Fantastic Four’s old release date of March 6, 2015. The film had originally been scheduled to open in November of 2014. Secret Service comes from a 2012 comic series by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar. Matthew Vaughn helmed two adaptations of Millar’s previous work, Kick-Ass, and will direct this adaptation as well. Secret Service will star Colin Firth, Michael Caine, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Susan Cooper will open Memorial Day weekend, May 22, 2015. The spy comedy will be directed by Paul Feig and star Melissa McCarthy. Feig and McCarthy have worked together twice before on Bridesmaids and The Heat. Both comedies were box office successes, and the two will hope to repeat their previous success a third time as the release will put them in competition with another Disney movie, Tomorrowland.

Finally, Fox’s adaptation of the popular video game series Assassin’s Creed has been pushed back from Memorial Day weekend to August 7, 2015. Michael Fassbender will star and produce, while Michael Lesslie will write the script.
