The Force was strong today with Star Wars fans who also happen to be avid Fortnite players. Those who stopped by the Risky Reels drive-in theater on Fortnite’s island this afternoon were treated to something special: an exclusive clip for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It’s less than a minute long, but still offers some interesting hints at what’s to come.
If you watch mxdwn’s personal streaming of the event below, you can see Disney/Lucasfilms and Fortnite really went all out. And all out weird too. After seeing the Millennium Falcon land following a battle with First Order TIE fighters, we get an intro by The Games Awards host Geoff Keighley, some interactions with a goofy stormtrooper, and an avatar that resembles J.J. Abrams. After all that and a few games played with the avatars who showed up for this event, we finally get the clip, which starts at 8:20.
In the scene, Rey, Finn and Poe land the Falcon aboard a First Order ship and take out most of the stormtroopers. They attempt to sneak through the corridors but are caught by two soldiers. Thankfully Rey’s Force skills have improved since then and she simply Mind Tricks them into being glad to see the rebels. Whatever happens next won’t be revealed until next week.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be out in theaters December 20th and marks the final entry in the Skywalker sage. Check out the final trailer again below.
