Forest Whitaker Joining Tom Hardy for Netflix Crime-Action Film ‘Havoc’

Forest Whitaker, star of films like The Last King of Scotland and The Butler, is now set to star in new Netflix crime-action film, Havoc, alongside Mad Max: Fury Road and Inception star, Tom Hardy. The film is being helmed by The Raid: Redemption director Gareth Evans, and will be the first film he makes for the streamer under new multi-year directing and producing deal, according to Variety

Havoc follows a bruised detective after a drug deal gone wrong who must fight his way through a criminal underworld in order to save the estranged son of a politician. During his journey, he unravels a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares the entire city.

Most recently, Whitaker starred in the Netflix holiday film Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey and the Epix crime-drama series Godfather of Harlem. He’s also known for roles in films like Black Panther, Platoon and Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai.

Evans’ work in the action-genre has reached near-legendary status. His Indonesian film The Raid and its sequel have become some of the most renowned action films of the last 10 years for their complex and easy-to-follow fight choreography. He also directed and wrote the 2018 Netflix horror film, Apostle, which starred Dan Stevens and Michael Sheen.
