After securing Curry Barker’s Obsession in what would become the biggest sale out of last year’s Toronto Film Festival, Focus Features is sticking with the writer/director. They’ve picked up Barker’s next horror feature, Anything But Ghosts, which he directed and co-wrote with frequent collaborator and creative partner Cooper Tomlinson. They will also co-star in the film alongside the recently announced Aaron Paul.
Barker and Tomlinson gained notoriety after launching the YouTube sketch comedy channel, That’s A Bad Idea, and co-starred together in the Barker-directed YouTube horror film, Milk & Serial. Barker has become a highly sought-after figure in the horror space, having been recently hired by A24 to write and direct a new iteration of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Blumhouse-Atomic Monster’s Jason Blum and Spooky Pictures’ Roy Lee will produce Anything But Ghosts alongside Steven Schneider, Adam Hendricks, and Greg Gilreath of Divide/Conquer. Barker and Tomlinson will serve as executive producers.
The film recently wrapped production in Vancouver.
