First Trailer Released For Nicolas Winding Refn’s ‘Her Private Hell’ Starring Sophie Thatcher

Following the film’s out-of-competition premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, the first trailer for Her Private Hell, the latest film from Drive and Only God Forgives director Nicolas Winding Refn, has been released. The film will be Nicolas Winding Refn’s first directorial effort since The Neon Demon, which starred Elle Fanning. The trailer offers the first glimpses of the film, which is drenched in the neon aesthetic for which Nicolas Winding Refn is known.

The film stars Sophie Thatcher in the leading role. Its synopsis, taken from an official press release, is as follows:

“When a mysterious mist engulfs a futuristic metropolis, unleashing a deadly and elusive entity, a troubled young woman searches for her father. Her quest collides with an American GI on a harrowing odyssey to rescue his daughter from hell.”

In addition to Thatcher, the film also stars Charles Melton, Kristine Froseth, Havana Rose Liu, and Diego Calva. The film is directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, who also wrote the film alongside Esti Giordoni.

Her Private Hill received a lukewarm critical response after its Cannes Out-of-Competition premiere. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently has a 38% rating based on only 13 reviews.

Neon is distributing the film and will be releasing it in theaters on July 24. The first trailer can be viewed below:
