On the morning of Tuesday, February 25th, Amazon MGM Studios released the first trailer for the Nicole Kidman-led thriller Holland. The film follows Kidman as Nancy Vandergroot, a woman who lives a seemingly ideal life as a wife and homemaker in the small town of Holland, Michigan. With the help of her colleague, played by Gael García Bernal, Nancy discovers that her small town isn’t what it seems. The film also stars Matthew Macfayden, most recently seen in Deadpool & Wolverine, as Nancy’s husband, and Jude Hill, who made his screen debut in the Oscar-winning Belfast, as Nancy’s son.
The film was initially titled Holland, Michigan, before being shorted to just Holland. The film is directed by Mimi Cave, who previously directed the romantic horror film Fresh, which starred Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sebastian Stan. The film is written by Andrew Sodroski, who previously wrote for the TV Series Manhunt, which ran from 2017 to 2020.
Nicole Kidman is producing the film through her production company, Banner Films. Other producers for the film include Peter Dealbert through Pacific View Management and Productions and Kate Churchill through Churchill Films.
This marks Kidman’s second collaboration with a project being released on Prime Video after the Lulu Wang-directed miniseries Expats. An adaptation of the play Things I Know to Be True was announced to be in the works for a release on Prime Video in 2020, though nothing has come of that project since its announcement. Kidman’s other producing credits include streaming series such as Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers, and The Undoing.
Holland will be released worldwide on Prime Video on March 27th. Watch the trailer below:
