First Trailer For ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Released

On Friday, Marvel released to the public a first look at the highly anticipated film ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, which, for the first time, will feature Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, the new Captain America. Following in the footsteps of Chris Evans, who played the role for nine years, Mackie will be the first black actor in history to play Captain America, marking a significant moment for the iconic superhero movie and comic book franchise. Set for release in February 2025, the film marks a shift in minority representation within the Marvel franchise, especially given the identity of Captain America as a purely American hero that embodies idealized American virtues such as selflessness and bravery.

Not a stranger to the world of Captain America by any means, Mackie played a significant role in past Captain America movies as Falcon, appearing in the 2014 hit film ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, as well as in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ (2016) and the Disney plus spin off series ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ (2021). The trailer, which provides glimpses of Harrison Ford’s Marvel debut as General Ross, shows Ross urging Wilson to go on an abroad mission, only for the winter soldier to discover an evil global plot that only he can prevent.
